LEAGUE APPLAUDS SENATOR RICE’S CALL TO ACTION
The League of Municipalities applauds Senator Ron Rice for reconvening the Gangland Security Task Force. The escalation in violence among and towards our youths cannot be allowed to continue. Our very best efforts and actionable plans must be incorporated into an effective, strategic initiative to stop gang violence.
“Gang violence is steadily metastasizing in our State. It is, by far, the most important issue faced by many municipalities today. The League is eager to work with Senator Rice in his stand for aggressive action to this seemingly interminable problem,” stated Bill Dressel, League Executive Director.
The League’s Gang Prevention and Youth Violence Task Force, chaired by Mayor Bob Bowser of East Orange, is fully dedicated to advancing a comprehensive, coordinated approach that blends prevention and intervention enforcement. Mayor Bowser is also a member of the Advisory Committee to the State’s Gangland Security Task Force. We are pleased Senator Rice issued the call and has laid the foundation for the Gangland Security Task Force.
