MUNICIPAL POLICY MAKERS SET TO ATTEND LEAGUE ANNUAL CONERENCE NEXT WEEK

Over 17,000 interested citizens and public servants are expected to gather in Atlantic City, from Tuesday, November 18 through Thursday, November 20, 2014, to participate in the 99th Annual Conference of the New Jersey State League of Municipalities. This is, again, expected to be the Nation’s largest gathering of municipal officials.

Over 100 informative sessions are scheduled. Highlights include the League’s popular delegate luncheon with a keynote address from Lieutenant Governor Kim Guadagno on Thursday afternoon. Wednesday’s event schedule includes the Mayors’ Luncheon featuring State Community Affairs Commissioner Richard Constable, Commissioner Bob Martin of the Department of Environmental Protection, Transportation Commissioner Jamie Fox, and Board of Public Utilities Commissioner Joseph Fiordaliso.

Key educational seminars will cover economic development and recovery, ethics, shared services, the Federal Affordable Care Act, resiliency, social media and more sessions important to municipal government. New Jersey’s municipal officials also use this conference to review nearly 800 companies, which provide municipal goods and services. This gives local officials the opportunity to shop for the best bargains, saving property taxpayers’ money in the process.

“This is not only America’s largest municipal conference; it is also the most instructive and the most valuable. New Jersey local officials come to Atlantic City for three full days of learning that is not available anywhere else at any other time” said League President Suzanne M. Walters, Mayor of Stone Harbor.
