With the September 3 effective date of the P.L. 2024, c. 16, which modernizes and reforms the Open Public Records Act (OPRA), the Government Records Council (GRC) has updated their website to include:
The GRC also noted that they are working on creating a digitization grant program and will provide updates when available.
P.L. 2024, c. 16 also changed the composition of the GRC. The Department of Community Affairs Commissioner serves as chair and the membership was expanded from 5 members to 9 members. Of the 8 public members, the Governor has re-appointed Robin Berg Tabakin and Steven Ritardi and appointed former State Senator Chris Brown and former Public Advocate Ronald Chen.
As a reminder “The Future of OPRA” session is available to watch on demand and the presentation slides can be downloaded. No CEU credits are available for watching.
In addition, the GRC has extended the closing date of the job announcements for four staff attorneys and one Mediator Assistant/Staff Attorney to September 9, 2024.
