[ARCHIVED] Mayor Heck Testifies on Warehouse Planning

On Thursday, Millstone Borough Mayor Ray Heck, League Past President, testified at the Assembly Public Safety Committee hearing on warehouse development, safety, and the need for planning flexibility. Chairman Joe Danielsen noted the need to allow municipalities to pause development and amend their Master Plans without legal penalty when it becomes necessary to change the zoning.

Mayor Heck discussed public safety, health, and fire suppression materials. In addition, he noted the need for improved training, pre-fire planning, and enhanced fire protection standards as well as firefighting tactics.

This was an informational hearing and there is no legislation to be considered. The League looks forward to working with the Assemblyman Danielsen to address the concerns raised during this hearing.
