The NJ Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) readopted rules concerning heating oil tank system remediations.
The rules ensure that the current Heating Oil Tank System Remediation Rules, which were set to expire on August 6, remain in effect for a seven-year period. DEP determined that the rules were necessary, reasonable, and proper for the intended purpose. The Heating Oil Tank System Remediation Rules (N.J.A.C. 7:26F) address the closure and remediation of heating tank systems. In addition, the rules address applying for grants or loans to offset the cost of remediation.
The readopted rules became effective June 24, 2025, and will expire on June 24, 2032.
