Applications are now being accepted for the 2020 Transportation Alternatives Set-Aside Program. This solicitation is administered by NJDOT in partnership with the NJTPA and the other MPO’s.
The TA Set-Aside program provides federal funds for community based “non-traditional” surface transportation related projects designed to strengthen the cultural, aesthetic, and environmental aspects of the nation’s surface transportation intermodal system.
Details about the program
including types of projects that are eligible and how the awards are administered can be found on both the NJDOT website
and the NJTPA website
New with this solicitation is an emphasis on equity and environmental justice. Consideration will be given to applications that provide additional benefits to vulnerable members of our communities, including low-income residents, minorities, those with limited English proficiency, persons with disabilities, children and older adults. Census data for these categories will be used to determine if a project meets the criteria.
Additionally NJDOT is offering webinars with detailed guidance on the program and the application process as well as one on one pre-submission meetings. The webinars will be held on the following dates: August 27, September 17 and September 30. Links for registration can be found at the NJDOT Local Aid Resource Center.
Applications for the TA Set-Aside Program are due on or before November 24, 2020 and must be submitted online through NJDOT SAGE.
