The Mayor Wellness Campaign is holding a virtual Mental Health First Aid Training on Thursday, April 13 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The training will help identify, understand, & respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders. The training is available to mayors, community leaders, Mayors Wellness Campaign members and municipal employees. The course will teach how to apply the ALGEE action plan. Assess the risk of suicide or harm; listen nonjudgmentally; give reassurances and information; encourage appropriate professional help; and encourage self-help and other support strategies. The training will cover common signs and symptoms of mental illness; common signs and symptoms of substance use; how to interact with a person in crisis, and how to help connect the person with help.
