Acting Governor Tehesha Way signed two bills this week aimed at helping support small businesses. The first bill, A-3424/S-1447 establishes an Annual Business Matchmaking Event to connect small businesses with federal, state, and local governments.
Under this new law the Chief Diversity Officer in Treasury’s Division of Purchase and Property and the Business Action Center are required to host an Annual Matchmaking Event with the purpose of connecting small businesses with representatives from federal, state, and local government agencies and their government contractors seeking small businesses to provide government contractors with subcontracting services.
The second bill now signed into law, A-4751/S-3400 establishes a mentorship program to match business entities with experience in particular areas with new or less- experienced businesses seeking to learn from a mentor. This program will be run by the Business Action Center.
