This week, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced the appointment of 16 new members to the Local Government Advisory Committee (LGAC), as well as the reappointments of 13 existing members, including members from New Jersey. 

Committee members reappointed to the LGAC from New Jersey include Newark Mayor Ras Baraka, and Manchester Twp. Councilwoman Michel Zolezi. Newly appointed to the LGAC from New Jersey is Burlington County Commissioner Allison Eckel.  

The LGAC provides an important opportunity for local officials to be in direct contact with the EPA on rulemakings and policy discussions.
