Governor Phil Murphy signed A-4047/S-2949, which revises unemployment compensation law. The League initially opposed this legislation because of unknown costs but changed our position to neutral when the Department of Labor shared the cost of modernization was minimal. The New Jersey Department of Labor estimates an additional $170,000 cost to the $380 million Unemployment Insurance Fund. The League appreciates the Department sharing this information to inform our decision making.
