[ARCHIVED] New Jersey Solar Panel Recycling Commission Established

Governor Murphy signed P.L. 2019, c. 215 establishing the “New Jersey Solar Panel Recycling Commission” to investigate options for recycling solar energy generation structures.

On August 9 Governor Murphy signed P.L. 2019, c. 215 establishing the “New Jersey Solar Panel Recycling Commission” to investigate options for recycling and other end-of-life management methods for photovoltaic and other solar energy generation structures and to develop recommendations for legislative, administrative or private sector action.

This nine-member commission must submit their findings and conclusions in a final report with any recommendations for legislative, administrative or private sector action to the Governor and Legislature within one year. The Commission may extend their deadline to submit the report by an additional year upon notice to the Governor and Legislature. The law also permits NJDEP to adopt rules based on the recommendations of the Commission.
