League Meeting for Those Reclassified Under MS4 Permit Program

The League will be hosting a meeting with the 101 municipalities that have been reclassified by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) from Tier B to Tier A under the MS4 permit program. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss these recent changes, the status of any determination appeals, and next steps. All 101 effected municipalities are invited to participate.

The remote meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, February 15 at 12 PM. To participate, kindly contact League Associate General Counsel, Frank Marshall.

League Seeking Information on LIHWAP Participation

The League is asking members with a municipal water or wastewater utility or authority to please respond to a brief survey that will impact League legislative advocacy efforts.

Local Finance Board Approves 2023 Appropriations Cap Exceptions

The Local Finance Board Meeting has unanimously approved exceptions to the appropriation cap, granting relief for the 2023 budget year which included a dramatic rise in insurance costs for many municipalities.

Special Occasion Events on Preserved Farmland Bill Signed

Governor Phil Murphy has signed legislation authorizing commercial farms located on preserved farmland to hold special occasion events.

Meeting of League Hometown Security Task Force

The New Jersey League of Municipalities’ Hometown Security Task Force will meet for the first time since the start of the pandemic for an update on issues and concerns impacting member municipalities. 

The Task Force is chaired by Hope President Tim McDonough, Past President of the League. The event is open to Task Force members and interested New Jersey Mayors. 

The meeting will be hosted by AT&T at its network disaster recovery facility in Burlington County and include a public safety forum featuring FirstNet. 

Date:         Friday, March 3, 2023   

Time:        10:00 AM - 2:00 PM

Location:  Address will be provided after registration

The event will include guest speakers from AT&T on FirstNet, two representatives from the New Jersey State Police on current priorities and policies, an update from the NJ Office of Homeland Security, a provided working lunch, a tour of the facility and more.
