Governor Murphy Holds Roundtable Around Liquor License Reform

NJ Supreme Court Sends DRE Issue Back to Special Master

The fate of DREs as expert witnesses to help identify and prosecute suspected DUI and DWI cases remains unknown after the New Jersey Supreme Court changes standards for their acceptance in court, and remands issue back to special master.

SHBC Plan Design Committee Meeting Summary

The State Health Benefits Commission Plan Design Committee held its February meeting this week. During the Director’s report, it was noted that 27 entities have left the State Health Benefits Plans since it enacted a nearly 23% rate increase for 2023.

Division Issues Guidance on Cap Relief & Opioid Settlement 

The Division of Local Government Services issued Local Finance Notice 2023-04 announcing the appropriation increases in excess of 3.5% for the Calendar Year 2023/State Fiscal Year 2024 budget appropriations for certain items and guidance on usage and reporting Opioid Settlement Funds.

Meeting of League Hometown Security Task Force

The New Jersey League of Municipalities’ Hometown Security Task Force will meet for the first time since the start of the pandemic for an update on issues and concerns impacting member municipalities. 

The Task Force is chaired by Hope President Tim McDonough, Past President of the League. The event is open to Task Force members and interested New Jersey Mayors. 

The meeting will be hosted by AT&T at its network disaster recovery facility in Burlington County and include a public safety forum featuring FirstNet. 

 Date:         Friday, March 3, 2023.   

Time:        10:00 AM - 2:00 PM

Location:  Address will be provided after registration.

The event will include guest speakers from AT&T on FirstNet, two representatives from the New Jersey State Police on current priorities and policies, an update from the NJ Office of Homeland Security, a provided working lunch, a tour of the facility and more.

State to Host Consulting Services For Use of ARPA

The State is holding virtual information sessions with consulting firms that specialize in disaster recovery who will be available to present and answer questions concerning use and compliance of Local Fiscal Recovery Funds.

NJ Carpenters Union Presents Free Seminar

The New Jersey Carpenters Union will be hosting a free seminar on “Best Practices for Purchasing, Administering and Closing Out Publicly Funded construction Projects on March 30 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Atlantic City Convention Center, Room 402, Atlantic City. Advance registration for the seminar, with DCA approved continuing education credits, is required.
