Discussion will include the different aspects of disciplinary process – investigating and charging, types of discipline, penalties including the concept of progressive discipline, differences between civil service and non-civil service jurisdictions, negotiating settlement agreements including last chance, conducting hearings, and various avenues of appeals of disciplinary matters.  The panel will also discuss the new police licensing statute, the requirements on municipalities, its effect on the disciplinary process and other timely legal issues concerning same.
