The Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) Grant Program is administered by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) under the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). It offers funding opportunities for municipal fire departments to hire additional firefighters and enhance recruitment and retention efforts for volunteer firefighters, ensuring adequate emergency response capabilities.
The grant will help municipalities improve public safety, reduce response times, and enhance fire protection services for residents. The grant funding will also enable communities to address workforce shortages and strengthen emergency response systems. The application is due July 3, 2025, at 5 p.m.
