In celebration of America’s upcoming 250th anniversary, LocalGov 250 and the National Academy of Public Administration are calling for nominations for 250 individuals for recognition as Government Champions 250. The program honors exceptional individuals working in government who exemplify “democracy at the doorstep.”
This includes elected officials, public safety personnel, public works staff, and professionals in areas like parks, libraries, transportation, health, and environmental management. Nominees must be currently employed or retired within the last ten years and demonstrate the highest standards of public service, innovation, and impact in their communities.
The nomination window is open now and closes on November 15 with finalists selected by December 15 and honorees announced on February 1, 2026. Up to 250 Champions will be recognized with a certificate and may be invited to an event in Philadelphia in May 2026, hosted by ICMA.
Full details and submission form available at the LocalGov 250 Champions page.
