The New Jersey Department of Community Affairs (DCA) Division of Local Government Services (DLGS) announced this week that applications are now being accepted for the Local Recreation Improvement Grant (LRIG) Program. LRIG is backed by the Murphy Administration, which allocated $25 million to assist in improving and developing public recreation facilities. This grant aims to assist local units in meeting recreational obligations, improving the funding of recreational facilities, and providing quality outdoor recreation facilities to underserved communities, including local parks and municipal recreation centers.
New Jersey counties, municipalities, and school districts are eligible to apply, and applications must be submitted through the DCA SAGE Portal by 5 p.m. on February 27, 2024. Additionally, the Program’s guidelines and detailed information about the FY 2024 LRIG Program are also available on the DCA website. We encourage interested municipalities to review the program’s guidelines prior to applying.
