On Monday, March 18, the Assembly and the Senate passed A-4011, which reauthorizes the Transportation Trust Fund (TTF) for five years. This plan includes an annual increase of 1.9 cents per gallon of fuel over the next five years.
Additionally, A-4011 introduces a new annual registration fee for zero emission vehicles registered in New Jersey. Beginning in July 2024 the fee will be $250, and it will increase by $10 each year to $290 by year 2028. The bill defines “zero emission vehicle” as a vehicle certified by the California Air Resource Board or a vehicle that satisfies zero emission vehicle standards for the applicable model year.
The League supports the A-4011 as it provides robust local transportation funding through the TTF to alleviate the financial burden on local property taxpayers.
For additional information, please refer to our March 6 item on the NJTTF Reauthorization Bill. A-4011 is currently awaiting Governor Murphy's consideration. We encourage you to reach out to Governor Murphy and urge him to sign the Transportation Trust Fund legislation.
