[ARCHIVED] Funding Opportunities: Bureau of Justice Assistance for FY25

The Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) has recently announced several funding opportunities for FY25. These grants aim to support innovative strategies and collaborations to enhance public safety, improve criminal justice outcomes, and address mental health and substance use. Municipalities are eligible applicants.  

FY25 Virtual Reality De-escalation Site-Based Initiative Supports law enforcement agencies in integrating virtual reality technology for innovative, multi-participant training sessions focused on crisis response.

Grants.gov: March 12, 2025, 11:59 p.m.  

JustGrants:  March 19,  2025, 8:59 p.m.  

FY25 Field Initiated: Encouraging Innovation- Supports innovative strategies aimed at preventing and reducing crime, enhancing community safety, and improving criminal justice outcomes. The Bureau of Justice Assistance promotes collaborations to identify and address emerging or chronic crime problems and justice system challenges.

FY25 Justice and Mental Health Collaboration Program - Supports collaborative programs that enhance public safety responses and outcomes for individuals with mental health disorders (MHDs) or co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders (MHSUDs). The primary goal is to improve the safety and well-being of adults with MHDs, such as traumatic brain injury and post-traumatic stress disorder, or MHSUDs who interact with the criminal justice system.

JustGrants: April 17, 2025, 8:59 p.m. 

FY25 Connect and Protect: Law Enforcement Behavioral Health Response Program  - Supports collaborations between law enforcement and behavioral health agencies to enhance public safety responses and outcomes for individuals with behavioral health needs. The goal is to implement deflection and diversion programs at initial contact, such as crisis response and intervention teams, co-responders, and other collaborative model approaches. The program focuses on improving the safety and well-being of individuals with mental health disorders or co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
