US DOT Announces RAISE Funding Application
The US Department of Transportation announced $1.5 billion in discretionary funding from the recently passed Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA).
The Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity, or RAISE Discretionary Grant program provides an opportunity to invest in road, rail, transit and port projects that promise to achieve national objectives.
This year, based on provisions in the infrastructure law, US DOT will factor in new criteria as it evaluates proposed projects, including mobility and community connectivity. The funding is a 50% increase over the nearly $1 billion in grants that DOT awarded in November of last year under the previous round of the program.
Demand for the money usually far exceeds how much is available, with about $10 in requests last year for every $1 available according to US DOT.
Final applications must be submitted on April 14, 2022 by 5:00 p.m.
