Pennsauken Township has opened its new Municipal Building for business. The building, which primarily houses a new library, also included new, expanded, and updated space for the municipal offices and was constructed behind the former municipal building.
The relocation of the Municipal Building and Free Public Library to a new, modern complex located at 2400 Merchantville Avenue will serve as the new home for Township offices and public services, replacing the current building at 5605 N. Crescent Boulevard. This two- and three-story, 53,000 square foot, state-of-the-art facility is designed to better meet the needs of the community.

The new Municipal Building and Library Complex provides improved accessibility, updated technology, expanded public spaces, and a welcoming environment for residents and visitors alike.
Reports noted there was a $27.5 price tag for construction cost for the total building project, of which $9.3 million was a grant awarded from the New Jersey Library Construction Bond Act.
The three-story Pennsauken Free Public Library section of the building is expected to open later this month. When it opens, the former library will reportedly be demolished with the space reutilized to serve the community as an inclusive “Jake’s Playground,” funded with a grant from the State, and a walking path around the complex.
