The U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) issued a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for the Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) discretionary grant program. This new five-year, $5 billion program has up to $1 billion available in fiscal year 2022 (FY22). The SS4A program funds regional and local initiatives through grants to prevent roadway deaths and serious injuries and supports the National Roadway Safety Strategy goal of zero deaths and serious injuries on the nation’s roadways. This program was established in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL).

he White House released a new resource to help identify and apply for funding from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL), the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law Rural Playbook. The League has created a spreadsheet to help communities navigate available funding opportunities.

A few weeks ago, the Biden Administration released the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) Guidebook. League staff reviewed the 465 page document and produced a condensed version that focuses on programs where funding is available to municipalities. In a separate spreadsheet, those same programs are broken down by category, type of project (i.e. planning, line replacement, design), and next milestone to provide you with a means to search for funding opportunities for your town.
